We were recently in Albany on the south coast of WA visiting J’s parents. Now Albany is generally not the most stylish place to be, there is a shocking graphic designer down there who is wreaking havoc on local businesses and its hard not to wince at some of the signage plastered around the main street – If I ever find out who it is I’m going to give them a piece of my mind!

Having said that there is one Store which I (and any stylish fashionista who knows whats good for them) make a beeline for on York Street called RICARDA. Ricarda is the brainchild of a german woman called… Ricarda… who is actually a long time old friend of J’s parents.. and one SERIOUSLY STYLISH LADY! The store fitout at Ricarda is gobsmackingly beautiful, simple white with beautiful polished boards and sleek built in timber joinery. I could literally spend ALL DAY browsing the ranges of Clothing (S&B, Akira, Bassike, Kirrily Johnson, Gorman, you name it she’s got it!), shoes (birkenstocks, camper), homewares (Kartell, Ittalia, Missoni Home, Flensted, Third Drawer Down… on and on) and gorgeous kids products from EeniMeeniMiniMoh, Mini Metalicus, Dwell Studio, David Fussenegger, Gaia, Purebaby….

Its really truly my kind of store and if J ends up convincing me to move to Albany to live I will pretty much only be shopping here or online! Unfortunately the website leaves a lot to be desired but for those Perthites who rarely head to Albany there is also a smaller store in Dalkieth.

While I was at Ricarda this trip i picked up this little gorgeous rarity which is sold out everywhere else… a limited edition (only 1000) David Bromely  for Third Drawer Down ‘Boy in Interior’ tea towel which i’m going to staple onto a canvas. Score!
