Summer Strollers

May 28, 2010

Anyone who knows me well would know I have a slight Pram fetish (my mother is rolling her eyes right now!!!) and seeing as its been a while since I put anything child related on here I thought I’d feature the two prams that I’m most in love with right now!

First up is the gorgeous new Bugaboo Bee + stroller in the divine special edition ‘Summer’ colours of Sand & Off White! I’ve been the lucky owner of an original Bugaboo Bee since 2008 and it is far and away the best pram I’ve ever used. I cant recommend it highly enough, light with a compact fold, the Bee is super narrow yet comfy for the baby, can face either mum or out into the world, it has a huge basket for shopping, a great hood for sun coverage and can steer with one finger and do a complete 360 degree turn on the spot! The new Bee has some even better features, a slightly wider seat and a height adjustable backrest, the mechanism to switch seat directions is more user friendly, and the wheels have more suspension. All in all a very well designed piece of baby related paraphernalia! Available in stores from June 2010 until stocks last…..

The second pram is one I’ve coveted since it was first released when I was pregnant with Eva… The Stokke Xplory! The main selling point with an Xplory (besides being the only pram manufactured by the awesome Norwegian company Stokke) is that the baby sits much higher up from the ground and closer to mum/dad. The latest 2010 Xplory has a new shape and new colours, they have also released these gorgeous ‘Summer’ breezy fabric sets designed to keep baby cooler in the heat of summer – I LOVE the pink/red colourway of course!!! very cool!!!

Both Bugaboo & Stokke prams hold their value really well so even though you pay more for the new pram, its a good investment as you can be assured that in two years if you keep it in great condition it will likely re-sell on ebay for quite close to the RRP. I once bought a bargain Bugaboo Cameleon from the Quokka for $500, gave it a polish, a groovy fabric liner and a new set of (secondhand) Bugaboo canvas fabrics – loved it for a year then put it on ebay and it went for $1150….!
